| “Tell
your children about it, and let your children tell theirs, and their
children, the next generation.” Joel 1:3
Your Men’s Club hopes that
your High Holy Day services were spiritually rewarding and thought
provoking. I want to extend special thanks to the team of ushers
who gave of themselves and time away from their families to help
make these services special.
As for recent events, on September 6th, a group of us visited Citi
Field to watch our bumbling Mets beat the Chicago Cubs on what turned
out to be a gorgeous, sunny, Sunday afternoon. The weather reminded
me of an October play-off game. (Ah we can dream.)
Your Men’s Club Board has been planning the following other
seasonal activities:
Our sports agenda includes on-going Sunday morning basketball under
the direction of Chet Greenspan..
Thinking of basketball, come with us to the Garden as the NY Knicks
play an exhibition game against Israel’s legendary basketball
team, Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv on Sunday afternoon, October 18th.
Proceeds from this game go to Migdal Ohr, Israel’s largest
youth village that benefits orphaned, abused, underprivileged, and
immigrant children. Information about this event will continue to
be circulated via email blasts and the green sheets.
The big news is the acceptance of our invitation to Congressman
Pete King who will be speaking to us on Sunday morning, October
18th at 9:45am. Congressman King, who has represented the 3rd Congressional
district since 1993 and is a ranking member of the Committee on
Homeland Security, will speak to us on a number of important issues
of the day related to homeland security and the economic recovery.
So come join us. For planning purposes, we need your rsvp by Friday
October 16th to: mgminsky@aol.com .
Finally, don’t forget our first Monday of the month sponsorship
of Minyan with our bagel and lox breakfast or our Tefillin workshop
later in the Fall.
So check your green sheets for further information on any of these
and other upcoming events.
We look forward to your support of our upcoming activities.
