“Tell your children about it, and let your children tell theirs, and their children, the next generation.” Joel 1:3

Bob and I and “the boys” wish you, our Congregants, a happy and restful summer. So, we all made it through another academic year.

The Men’s Club Organization has had a very successful season and clearly we could not have accomplished this without your financial support and past participation.

Over the coming summer, I encourage you to view your weekly green sheets and emails that will promote upcoming events we have planned or others currently unscheduled over the summer time period and beyond.

At the present time, we are promoting tickets to the Brooklyn Cyclones as they celebrate Jewish Heritage Night on Sunday, July 13th. As has become tradition on Jewish Heritage Nights at Key Span Park, the Cyclones will hold a pre-game on-field Hora, inviting all fans to participate. In addition, the first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a free replica Cyclones jersey (in Hebrew lettering), courtesy of Maimonides Medical Center.

If you have ever come to Key Span Park, this is simply a beautiful venue to relax and enjoy a baseball game while experiencing the summer breezes of the cool Atlantic Ocean in Coney Island; an opportunity to relive your youth by attending a game in Brooklyn. When did you last do that? You can even pair it earlier in the day with a visit to the world famous aquarium. Please see the ad below with details promoting this fun event.

Other events in view are possibly a summer barbeque, a farewell tour of Yankee Stadium before it closes, a September Golf Outing and a talk by our Congressman, Pete King on issues of U.S. National Security, the upcoming national election and Israel.

Of course, Sunday basketball continues through the summer under the direction of Chet Greenspan.

Some of the highlights of our past season include:
• Recreational and sports events like our series of Texas Hold-em and Poker nights (with special thanks to Great Neck Games and Morrell of Woodbury), The Knicks vs the Israeli semi-pro team at the Garden, and the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

• Cultural events like our Tefillin workshop for our Hey students, support of the World Wide Wrap, Shabbat Across America and the Yellow Candle Yom Hashoah program.

• Congregational events such as sponsorship of breakfast for Monday morning Minyan, the Pre-Passover breakfast for the first born and our First Annual Wine Tasting and Passover wine sale, among others.

So the Men’s Club has been there for you, and we need your continued financial support and participation in our upcoming events. Remember, it is all for a worthy cause.
